Complete Care for Small Exotic Mammals
For small mammals, we recommend complete physical exams every 6 to 12 months, yearly fecal examinations, routine blood testing, and vaccinations. Small mammals are more susceptible to diseases, and you don’t want to have a sick rabbit or sick ferret. Our team can help make sure your pets stay happy and healthy. Our additional services include the following:
Since sick birds usually hide symptoms of disease until the problem is very developed, routine examinations are very important. If you have a bird that is not used to being handled, an avian veterinarian can come to you at your home. Early detection is key, and that’s why we recommend physical examinations every 6 to 12 months, yearly fecal examinations, routine blood testing, and vaccinations. Wing, nail, and beak trimming can be effective in some cases. We also offer the following services:
Avoid Amphibian & Reptile Diseases
Parasites and infections are common problems for reptiles and amphibian pets. Most of these issues are a result of improper husbandry, food, housing, sanitation, temperature, humidity, and/or lighting. Our reptile veterinarians can give you more information on how to avoid these problems and create a comfortable environment for your reptile or amphibian friends. Our additional services include the following:
Keep Your Fish Healthy & Happy
Poor water quality, unaddressed infections, or environmental factors are the leading causes of illness in fish. Sick fish usually exhibit physical signs such as redness or changes in the color of their skin and/or fins, they might stop eating, or they may separate themselves from other fish in their tank. If your fish is exhibiting any of these signs, transport them to our hospital in a bucket or ice chest. Don’t forget to bring a water sample in a separate container, so we can test it in our lab. We also offer the following services:
We have been the Durham, NC, Chapel Hill, NC, and Raleigh, NC area’s choice for exotic veterinary care since 1996. Whatever kind of pet you have, we can provide him or her with the care he or she needs. Give us a call for more information or to make an appointment. We look forward to serving you and your furry, scaly, or feathered friends.
We Make House Calls
For animals that are difficult to transport, such as animals at breeding facilities, fish ponds, or aviaries, house calls can be helpful. You can receive the same exotic pet care right at home for your convenience and your pet’s comfort.
Whenever possible, we like to treat your animals in our hospital, especially if your pet is showing signs of a serious illness. We can perform a variety of tests and treatments in the clinic that we wouldn’t be able to perform at your home. Whether you have a sick rabbit or reptile, just call us and we can recommend which kind of appointment would be best.
We have new state-of-the-art facility with 6,000 square feet of space. We offer a clean, safe environment to provide exotic pet care in. From sick birds to sick snakes, we make sure every animal is treated safely and with the most care and compassion possible.
